(2013) Judas Priest - Epitaph [320 kbps] {100.XY}
Judas Priest - Epitaph
[image=p5tL4XSMAJ] Wikipedia:
Judas Priest are a British heavy metal band formed in Birmingham, England in 1969.[1] Known for twin lead guitars, a wide operatic vocal style, and for introducing the S&M leather-and-studs look into heavy metal, they have sold over 50 million albums worldwide.
[image=p5tL4XSMAJ] Review:
Faye Coulman reviews Judas Priest‘s new live DVD ‘Epitaph’ and we speak to the metal god himself, Rob Halford, about picking the ‘Epitaph’ setlist and marking the end of a chapter.
Reliving the electrifying thrills and spills of a historic rock show in an air-conditioned cinema aisle may be considered second-rate entertainment to the mind of any right-thinking metal maniac. But as a band whose every blistering riff and leather-clad swagger looms large with the otherworldly essence of heavy metal, the theatrical vision with which Judas Priest’s closing ‘Epitaph’ date is captured only heightens their already towering stage presence.
In a sustained, 142-minute assault on the senses that sees these genre-forging Brits revisit their immense 14-album discography, this rare performance is rendered with all the explosive audio and acrobatic camera angles you’d expect of such an outing. But with every era of Judas Priest’s 40-year career being recreated in the iconic visuals that define each influential album, it’s clear that ‘Epitaph’ is no simple retrospective and, as such demands ample cinematic imagination. With its lingering close-ups and whirling overhead shots being ignited in a white-hot haze of light, ‘Starbreaker’ is particularly abuzz with fan euphoria, with Rob Halford’s operatic pipes ricocheting off expansive surround sound audio.
Judas Priest’s legendary musicianship is always a supreme spectacle to behold in any medium, but never before has the passion and pageantry of their sound been so vividly brought to life until now.
[4/5] Faye Coulman
Because ‘Epitaph’ is such a monumental milestone for Judas Priest, marking their 40th anniversary as recording artists, we couldn’t turn down the opportunity to talk to the metal god himself, Rob Halford, about ‘Epitaph’.
The ‘Epitaph’ set covers every era of Priest, what went into picking the setlist?
“I hadn’t really listened to Priest’s [back catalogue] completely for the longest time so I literally played everything, absolutely every track and [laughs] you surprise yourself, ‘oh that was a good one, i’d forgot about that’, ‘cos it was buried on side two of ‘Point Of Entry’ or whatever. And then, of course, you’ve got to have a track from ‘Painkiller’ which you can play live, every track off ‘British Steel’ which you could play live, ‘Screaming For Vengeance’ and on and on and on.”
Is it fair to say that the ‘Epitaph’ tour, and this DVD, marks the end of a chapter for Priest?
“Just in one small respect, it’s not the end of Judas Priest by any stretch of the imagination; we’re in the studio now as we speak tracking all of the new material; we’re just cutting back a little bit so we can still get out there and do the great shows that we want to do. As a 52-year-old metal head [laughs], going out doing what I need to do as a singer and as a performer, I can still do it and I love to do it. I just want to be able to go out there and not look sad and punch drunk and I think that you’ve just kind of look at what you need to do to make sure that when people see you, they go ‘yeah, they’re as good as they’ve ever been’.”
The band "Freight" was formed by schoolmates Kenneth "K.K." Downing and Ian Hill in 1969. They quickly found drummer John Ellis, and decided that they needed a vocalist. In 1970, a band called Judas Priest had broken up, and Al Atkins was out of a job. He was quickly hired by Ian and K.K., who then renamed their band Judas Priest since the name was available. A demo was recorded in July, 1971, and the band opened for acts like Budgie and Slade.
In 1971, drummer Alan "Skip" Moore came in for a brief while, and was then replaced by Chris "Congo" Campbell. Al Atkins left in early 1973. Campbell thought the band had little future and left too. The band nearly broke up, before Ian Hill's girlfriend Sue suggested her brother Rob for a vocalist. He arrived in May 1973, bringing his Hiroshima bandmate, drummer John Hinch with him.
In April, 1974, Glenn Tipton of the Flying Hat Band came in as second guitarist, and an album, Rocka Rolla, was recorded for Gull Records. Gull wanted the band to add a horn section, but mercifully they refused, honing their guitar driven attack instead. In the fall of 1975, Hinch was fired for incompetence, and "Skip" Moore returned. The band recorded the legendary "Sad Wings of Destiny" album, and were signed by CBS records. Moore left, and session drummer Simon Phillips appeared on the Sin After Sin album.
A US tour, opening for REO Speedwagon, was booked, and drummer Les Binks was found in June, 1977. This line-up would record two studio albums and a legendary live release, Priest in the East. Then, Les Binks left - he disappeared for many years after an appearance in Tytan in 1981, possibly killed in a bizarre gardening accident, before surfacing in the Fainting Goats with former Iron Maiden guitarist Dennis Stratton in 1999.
Dave Holland was brought in, and six studio albums and a live album were recorded with this line-up before Holland left, sick of the rock and roll lifestyle, in 1989. Scott Travis of Racer X was found as a replacement and the album "Painkiller" was recorded, being released in 1990.
As the band was preparing to record "Painkiller", a lawsuit was filed against them by the parents of two young men that had ostensibly attempted suicide (one succeeded, one failed and was left disfigured, dying some time later of health complications) after allegedly listening to "Stained Class", backwards, in 1985 during a night of excessive alcohol and drug use. The parents alleged that hidden messages in the recordings had encouraged the teenagers to kill themselves. The lawsuit ran from July to August 1990 before ultimately being thrown out.
In July of 1991, Halford announced his departure (via fax!) effective the end of the tour. August 17th, 1991 was his last gig with Priest. He went on to form more modern-minded bands in Fight and Two, before returning to more familiar climes with the eponymous Halford project. Judas Priest stagnated for several years, before finding vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens of Winters Bane, who also played in a Priest tribute band. He was hired in 1996, and two studio albums and two live albums were recorded by this line-up. Constant rumours of a Halford reunion over the six-year tenure of Owens heated up around 2002, and ended up being confirmed in July 2003.
This line-up first began in 1967, but changed their name to Judas Priest in 1969, bassist Bruno Stapenhill taking the name from the Bob Dylan song "The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest". Guitarist John Perry had at this point died and was replaced with Ernest Chataway, chosen over KK Downing who also applied for the spot.
In late 1970 Al joined K.K. and Ian's band and brought the name with him, but the two were completely different entities. The two guitarists were not in the band at the same time.
Judas Priest announced on December 7th, 2010 that their Epitaph World Tour would be the band's farewell tour. It should run up until 2012.
K.K. Downing retired from the band as of April 20th, 2011.

Judas Priest - Stained Class (SPEC DTS-MA 5.1 by DKA) (SBU)
This is a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 conversion, in AVCHD format, created from a 24/96 rip source utiiizing the SPEC method (ArcTan mode) as found on www.surroundbyus.com.
To play the full lossless 24/96 stream, you must utilize a Blu-Ray player and receiver capable of decoding a DTS-MA signal. Those without a DTS-MA receiver will still be able to play a 24/48 core DTS stream.
For those who cannot play a disc in AVCHD, there is brief document included in this torrent as to my own process in extracting mono wavs from discs like these in order to create a disc in another multichannel format.
Notes and disclaimers:
It is not recommended that you downmix these tracks to stereo, transcode them in any way, or make any changes other to them than how they are presented here.
If you are not a fan of stereo-to-surround conversions, while I do recommend giving the SPEC mixes a chance, if it is not your intention to do so, please respect those who do get enjoyment out of these mixes and do not troll or flame on my, or anyone else's, posts.
Another re-listing from Demonoid. Enjoy. Some new stuff from me later this week.

Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance (2012) [Special 30th Anniversary Edition Bonus DVD]

A vital part of rock history - Judas Priest have spent 4 decades writing classic songs and putting on spectacular live shows. During this period, the band has sold in excess of 30 million albums, and played to countless millions of fans across the globe. In 1982, they released their eighth studio album SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE, containing their hugely successful You’ve Got Another Thing Coming, the single which proved that metal could get mainstream radio airplay in the US – leading the way for a whole generation of new metal bands.
To celebrate the 30 year anniversary of this epic release, Judas Priest present you with SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE – SPECIAL 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION, containing not only the re-mastered original album plus bonus tracks, but also a live DVD from the 1983 US Festival show, filmed in San Bernadino CA on 29th May 1983.
The US Festival was intended to be a celebration of evolving technologies; a marriage of music, computers, television and people - organized by Steve Wozniak formerly of Apple Computer.
The SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE – SPECIAL 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION Live DVD was filmed at the second, and what turned out to be last, US Festival in 1983. The Sunday was the Heavy Metal Day -"It was the day new wave died and rock n' roll took over". It set the single-day concert attendance record for the US with an estimated 375,000 people.
Judas Priest have this to say about this memorable day in metal history:
'On the day that we performed, we flew in by helicopter - and the first sight we saw was that of thousands of abandoned cars piled up around the crests of the hills that surrounded the festival arena, which as we went over took our breath away. For there below us, spread throughout hundreds of acres was a massive crowd – over three hundred thousand strong! The summer heat was raging and combined with the hot Santa Ana winds made for a scorching metal furnace on stage.'

This show is historical in two ways; first, it was the last show the band played for almost seven years, and the last Judas Priest show with Rob Halford until the 2004 Reunion Tour. Secondly, it was at this show where Rob had his famous motorcycle accident which knocked him out for the duration of opening number Hell Bent for Leather, making it so far the only time in history that this song was played as an instrumental.

Judas Priest are a British heavy metal band formed in Birmingham, England in 1969. Known for twin lead guitars, a wide operatic vocal style, and for introducing the S&M leather-and-studs look into heavy metal, they have sold over 50 million albums worldwide.After an early career as a secondary act dogged by unsympathetic producers and lineup changes, the band found considerable commercial success in the 1980s. The band's membership has seen much turnover, including a revolving cast of drummers in the 1970s, and the temporary resignation of singer Rob Halford in the early 1990s. The current line-up consists of lead vocalist Rob Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis. In 2010, the band announced a farewell world tour, and a new album is expected to be released sometime in 2013.
This is the first bootleg to surface from the Epitaph World Tour, the last major world tour the band is going to go through. It is special in many ways, which I'll explain.
First proper show with Richie Faulkner. First show of the Epitaph Tour. Live versions of Never Satisfied and Blood Red Skies. Starbreaker performed for the first time in 31 years.
